Y’s UNIQUENESS

Assets

We own about 80% of the business’s resources including our head office premises – this is the reason we are able to provide a welcoming feeling of security. This also means we can control how much we cost our partners and the speed at which we respond to their requests.

Innovation

We are continuously at the forefront of implementing innovative ways of improving our partners market share.

We launched our very own innovative tailor-made online reporting system that suits merchandising and sales needs and gives our partners real-time reporting. This system affords us a competitive advantage as we are able to provide our partners with live performance data when we are at work.

Academies

Our partnership with academic institutions provides us with a groundbreaking advantage with regard to research and innovation. It is through this partnership that we can recruit motivated staff studying marketing or media-related courses to work on campaigns. Since 2014, we have afforded over 2000 students experience in our field.

Skills and Development

Driven by our mission to uplift our community, we strive to create jobs not only for students, but for all those needing skills development through employment. One of South Africa’s main economic challenges is a high skills shortage, which results in a number of issues like unemployment. According to Statistics South Africa, the country has an over 27.1% unemployment rate, especially among youth, which leads to high levels of crime and various other socio-economic challenges.

We are contributing to nation-building and reducing youth unemployment by encouraging more young people to study and through promoting skills development opportunities, especially within the advertising and marketing sphere. This is carried out by sponsoring young people with bursaries to study within these fields and by offering part-time employment which provides on-the-job training. The business outsources seasonal staff from various higher education institutions, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges, across South Africa. Our partnership with academic institutions provides us with a groundbreaking advantage with regard to research and innovation. It is through this partnership that we are able to recruit motivated staff who are studying marketing or media-related courses to work on campaigns and get first-hand experience. Through this initiative, we not only contribute to reducing youth unemployment but also recruit young, vibrant and goal-driven candidates who are passionate about marketing. Since 2004, we have afforded more than 2000 students with experience in our field and have offered over 200 of them full-time employment. We undergo a rigorous recruitment and training programme to ensure our staff perform at their optimum. Our training programmes are soon-to-be SETA accredited and going forward, we plan to be at the forefront of transformation programmes which will benefit our partners’ B-BBEE status in South Africa
